Non members are welcome to join us following the AGM on 18 June for a lighthearted talk by Dr Bruce Durie. This starts at 8pm sharp. The title of his talk is "You Couldn't Make It Up - tales from the genealogical front line". Bruce is an entertaining speaker at any time and his talk will allow him to explore some of the more unusual and entertaining findings which can be unearthed when one engages in family research. There will be a nominal charge of £2 to cover refreshments for non members - members free.
We would be delighted to welcome new members on the evening! This is our last meeting until September and is at our usual venue - see post below.

Website update
Our new website is taking a bit longer than anticipated. However we should be live in the next couple of weeks so keep checking! The new website will not initially have a guest book so if you have a query or photograph you want to share either pop on our facebook page which is going really well thanks to Alison who keeps the posts up to date. www.facebook.com/fifefamilyhistorysociety. If you don't use facebook email Alison and she will either put it on FB or on the website. Her email is socialmedia@fifefhs.org If you have already posted on the guest book you may wish to repost or put on the rootsweb mailing list for Fife which is very active and you can see replies which you can't on the guest book - we may add a forum at a later date to our new website.

Last call for anyone wanting to go to Inerpeffray Library - please get in touch by Sunday 12 May if you wish to join us.
Fife Family History Society has arranged a visit to Innerpeffray Library, near Crieff. Innerpeffray Library was the first free lending library in Scotland and was founded, along with a local school, around1680 by David Drummond, the third Lord Madertie. The forward thinking benefactor left funds to allow the library to be used free of charge ‘in time coming’ by ordinary people. Its Borrowers Register gives details of each borrower and the books they borrowed and can still be inspected today, giving fascinating insights into the local population over three centuries.
Fife FHS’s visit to Innerpeffray takes place on Tuesday 14 May. The cost which includes entry to the Library, a guided tour and talk, and a snack lunch is £8 for members £12 for non members. You will need to arrange your own transport though some car sharing may be possible. If you wish to join the visit please contact the Secretary of Fife FHS, Frances Black, on secretary@fifefhs.org or 01337-840351
